Autumn
Term 2008
10th September: Rainbows Tonight there were several new
rainbows, so we made Rainbow name badges, hand painted our helping
hands and made toy Rainbow elephants.
We played Please Mr Crocodile and
Isn't it funny how a bear likes honey. We sang Everywhere we Go, I wish
I was a little round orange, I stuck my head in a little skunk hole and
the Crazy Elephant Song.
17th September: Ground
Hog Day
This evening we found out about
the American festival called Ground Hog Day. We looked at pictures of
the festival then made Ground Hog puppets, Ground Hog masks and made
shadow puppets. At the end we hunted for the Ground Hog's shadow as
part of a game.
24th September:
Harvest Festival
On arrival we made harvest
angels. After a Rainbow chat we made salt dough plaits (or whatever
else we wanted), fruit and vegetable people, and corn dollies.
1st October: Rosh
Hashanah
As we arrived we made Rosh
Hashanah cards and coloured pictures. We then watched some short videos
showing Rosh Hashanah traditions. After this we ate some honey cake,
challah bread, and apples dipped in honey. We then played some Rosh
Hashanah theme games.
8th October: Earth Festival (Re-cycling) We started by making care for
the planet posters. We then listened to a story about recycling and
made kites from plastic bags.
15th October: Puppet Festival We began by making puppets
which we put our fingers through to make the legs. We then played mummy
bear, daddy bear and baby bear. Next we made puppet theatres and stick
puppets.
