10th January: Dragon
Quest Each team had to work together to defeat a
series of dragons and collect their gold. We followed dragon tracks and
collected the dragon's eggs, found food to feed to dragon, navigated a
labyrinth without disturbing the sleeping dragon, defended ourselves
against an angry dragon, collected the ingredients for a spell to
protect against a further dragon and made a fierce dragon to scare away
the final dragon. The Leprechauns won the game!

practising and cake We started the meeting by playing Wee Willy
Winky. We then practised our Thinking Day performance. At the end

28th
February: Thinking
Day Performance We invited the Guides and parents to watch
our Thinking Day performance. Our play was about a Brownie called Anna
who didn't understand the meaning of the song 'We all sing with the
same voice'. Her magical Young Leader flew her off to different parts
of the world; she sang songs with American Girl Scouts, watched a
shadow puppet show in Indonesia and danced with Indian Brownies. In the
end she returned home to her own Pack and sang 'We all sing with the
same voice', having learnt that although children in different parts of
the world are different in some respects, we all have a lot in common.
After the play we sold refreshments to raise money for the WAGGGS
Tsunami relief fund. We raised £17.98.

7th March: Chinese
themed meeting - part I We started the meeting by writing a good
turn Gift and making a wish orange to throw. We then played Mother Hen, Lame Chicken and Dragon's Tail. After the
games
we listened to the
story behind the Willow pattern and painted our own, drew chinese good
luck messages on chop sticks and started to make a dragon puppet. At
the end of the meeting our newest Brownie made her promise.
|
14th March: Chinese
themed meeting - part II We started the meeting by finishing our
dancing dragons and trying a Chinese horoscope wordsearch. We then had
a pow-wow to decide on a name for our Pack Leader - Badger and awarded
one of our Brownies the Oak badge. After the pow-wow we played Motherhen, made
fortune cookies and ate rice, noodles, a spring roll
and chips with chopsticks. We then played a quick game of fishes. We
forgot to play the tangram game Panther had brought - so we'll have to
do that another time!
