Made long before the official board "Chess" appeared. The oil patches split the central section into two regions (given by even/odd positions, if you see what I mean), and the portals let you move between the two. The pits in the simple version were removed, as they spoiled things.
Unless you tell it otherwise, my program chooses the floor tiles randomly from a selection of three or four, and places them in a random orientation. Here, I fixed the tiles alternatingly, to go with the theme.

The first version we found was the simpler version in the middle. The joins of the different levels felt unsatisfying, as the pit border gives no impression of height. My solution was to use a mixture of ledges and pit edges. To make this work, I lowered the section to the bottom-right of the pit. While this means that you can no longer fall in so easily, I like the enclosed feeling it produces.
Later, we found the version on the right here. Three green portals..?

I'm rather proud of this. I made the board as a present for Owen, a friend who likes both RoboRally and trains. This was my attempt to construct the London Underground in RoboRally form. Every single item on the board serves a purpose or has some meaning, in many cases a bad pun.
I created the green gear element, so that whichever way the green conveyor is moving, you are always turned towards the center of the board. (I should point out that in our house rules the green conveyors do not flip immediately when someone passes through green beam; instead, passing through a beam means that they will flip the following turn. This means that approaching Notting Hill Gate from the north isn't as unpleasant as it seems.)
There are other unusual things. The watery conveyor and a watery gear behave as you would expect: conveying or rotating is as usual; moving off the square requires one extra movement, as usual. The goo is just decoration. The converter symbol can also be treated as decoration, however we thought that having it add one to your movement if you move off that square would be fun.
Good luck trying to work out all of the references and jokes!

Having 22 green portals made it hard to see at a glance which paired up. It was tricky to get 11 sufficiently different colours, but playing it hasn't caused any problems. It's a very enjoyable board, and the shortest route is rarely obvious.

As with "Rubber Room", I first found this in "simple" graphics form, but have since lost that file and the replacement I found had a corrupted bottom-left corner. I preferred that version, as I felt that some of the elements in the version on roborally.com spoiled things. There's no need for gold conveyors, strange teleporters, or that odd big pusher. So my version is a copy of the first version I had.

The single blue portal in the simpler version isn't a mistake. My original plan was to have the four portals on the board "Woodle" being four different colours, then make four boards each containing one portal. Woodle would then have gone in the middle, with the others forming a plus around it. This didn't happen.

Originally featuring four differently-coloured portals, with the intention being that four boards would be placed around this one. This never happened, but the board is great fun in its own right. The title came from a mixture of the "Wood Between The Worlds" and looking a bit like noodles.
