The first version we found was the simpler version in the middle. The joins of the different levels felt unsatisfying, as the pit border gives no impression of height. My solution was to use a mixture of ledges and pit edges. To make this work, I lowered the section to the bottom-right of the pit. While this means that you can no longer fall in so easily, I like the enclosed feeling it produces.
Later, we found the version on the right here. Three green portals..?
