Made long before the official board "Chess" appeared. The oil patches split the central section into two regions (given by even/odd positions, if you see what I mean), and the portals let you move between the two. The pits in the simple version were removed, as they spoiled things.
Unless you tell it otherwise, my program chooses the floor tiles randomly from a selection of three or four, and places them in a random orientation. Here, I fixed the tiles alternatingly, to go with the theme.
