History of your community

These are the challenges included in the history of your community section of our Wise Owl booklet.
Often we work on a challenge in a small group, but sometimes the whole Pack is involved.


Adventure

A1) Find out how the Brownie uniform has changed over the years. Perhaps you could design your own Brownie uniform. Helpful hints
A2) Find out about the history of your Pack. Help to organise a Pack birthday party.
A3) Try at least three simple challenges from past Brownie programs.
A4) Go on a historical walk around your local area.
A5) Take part in an evening themed around someone of local historical significance.
A6) Find out about a local ghost story. Either draw a picture of it or act it out.
A7) Draw a simple family tree.
A8) Take part in a theme evening based on a period of British history.
A9) Play a game that was popular in Britain in the past.
A10) Do another challenge based on the history of your community.


Adventure On

AO1) Find out how the promise and promise badge have changed over the years. Design your own promise and promise badge.
AO2) Find out about the history of the Guiding movement. Either invent a game or activity or help organise a Brownie history evening.
AO3) Try at least three more complicated challenges from past Brownie programs.
AO4) Visit a place of local historical importance. Either make a poster to advertise it, or an activity sheet suitable for a Brownie visit.
AO5) Find out about someone of local historical importance. Either act out a play about them or write a letter or website to tell someone else what you have found out.
AO6) Find out about a local ghost story. Write a story or poem about it.
AO7) Find out about your family history. Draw as large a family tree as you can.
AO8) Help to organise a theme evening based on a period of British history.
AO9) Find out something about an event or period of history. Either make something related to that period, or write a story set in it.
AO10) Do another challenge based on the history of your community.
