In 43 BC Octavius Caesar joined forces with Marc Antony and Aemilius Lepidus to avenge the murder of his adopted father, Julius. Within a decade these men - the so-called Second Triumvirate - controlled between them the entirety of the Roman Empire.

By 35 BC, Octavian had grown restless: He wanted more and was prepared to turn on his allies to get it. This film tells the story of how Octavian became Augustus Caesar, the supreme and absolute Emperor of Rome.
